Adam & Tina

Adam and I both made a last minute decision to hit the town with some friends the night we met, a night, that in reflection, was simply meant to be. While out and about in Manly, we both found ourselves at Charlie Bar for a few drinks with mutual friends to celebrate their birthdays. We sat opposite sides of the room, too shy to even talk to each other. A few hours passed before very dear friends of ours took the initiative to exchange our numbers for us on our behalf. We left Charlie Bar, going our separate ways with only each other's numbers in our phones. At this point we still hadn't spoken to each other, not even a simple hello or goodbye and had only made minimal eye contact. Later that night we sent each other a few text messages (thanks to the lovely Nadine Mesite) and then arranged our first date at Manly Grill. This was followed by a second and a third date, which included our first kiss in a playground at a local park. It wasn't long after this that our relationship was official.

How They Met

“I remember the first time I saw Adam from a distance. He was wearing a black Lonsdale t-shirt with jeans, his arms were folded in front of him, and he was laughing with a huge smile on his face.

I knew instantly that Adam was someone I would like to get to know. I then focused my attention to my friends to try and find out as much as I could about him, without making it too obvious I had a slight crush on him.”

Tina

“I remember seeing Tina sitting down among a group of friends talking. She instantly stood out, not because of her obvious beauty, but because of her sequined dress that we referred to as a shiny disco ball. We actually didn’t talk to each other that night, preoccupied by our friends.

Later in the night I asked Nadine who this new girl was. Her reply was - do you want me to get her number? To which I immediately said ‘yes!’ So somehow I had managed to get Tina’s number without speaking to her.

Once she had left, I messaged her to organise our first date. And when I say ‘I’, I mean Nadine did the messaging from my phone. I didn’t want to stuff this opportunity up. The rest seamlessly fell into place and one year later we were engaged.”

The Proposal

Adam proposed on our one year anniversary, Saturday the 4th December 2011; the weather was rather terrible and ruined Adam’s plans for an outdoor picnic, so he brought the picnic indoors and had arranged a scavenger hunt based on some very special moments in our relationship. This lead to the place that we shared our first kiss and it was there in the playground, standing inside a cubby house, that Adam proposed. We spent the rest of the night soaking up the excitement and joy of our engagement with our loving families.

“I liked it, so I put a ring on it. She said YES.”

The Ring

We didn’t do a lot of shopping for the perfect ring. Adam knew I always wanted to have something designed and handcrafted, a one of a kind engagement ring. I knew what I wanted and dropped hints here and there to Adam. We had both already seen the amazing work of James at Forever Diamonds and decided to book an appointment with him. Our experience with Forever Diamonds was awesome. James is so experienced and passionate about what he does that he made the whole process from start to finish an absolute breeze. He patiently took the time to go through different designs with us based on some of the ideas I already had in mind and with the input of my husband too.

My engagement ring is a stunning piece, and now accompanied by my wedding band the two together are a real statement. Adam LOVES his wedding band too, again James created a unique piece and really matches Adam's personality and style. You really need to trust your jeweller! I'm a big believer of letting professionals do their thing. James knows what works and what doesn’t and I'm very grateful to have listened to his advice.

The Wedding

We had a rather large wedding with about 300+ guests, it was a typical Catholic ceremony at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel St Patrick's Estate Manly followed by a reception at MIramare Gardens at Terrey Hills. Our honeymoon was amazing, we spent 10 days at the Tongsai Bay Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand. It was a stunning secluded resort and we were upgraded to a private pool villa. The service and hospitality at Tongsai Bay was faultless. We then did a larger trip to Europe over 3 weeks and travelled through from the UK, Greece, Italy and Paris. It's been an amazing past few years and i'm already thinking of ideas for an eternity ring.
